ABOUT REBOOT MOTION
Reboot Motion enables large organizations to excel in biomechanics at scale. We do this through our expertise in data, physics and biomechanics- delivering metrics, tools, and reports that help front offices, R&D teams, and coaches improve player performance.
We are the biomechanics experts in MLB and are currently expanding to the NBA.
But we need help—first in expanding horizontally across elite sports. Then to move into larger markets like fitness and healthcare.
Specifically, we are looking for someone to:
- Design and develop our industry-leading biomechanics API;
- Scale our automated data processing pipeline; and
- Solve complex “big data” problems that will only grow as motion capture becomes prevalent across pro sports.
REQUIREMENTS
We do not believe in providing mandatory checklists, with the expectation that candidates will have done 100% of what is on the list. With that said, great candidates may have experience:
- Designing and implementing scalable REST APIs, using the FastAPI framework.
- Working within the AWS ecosystem, particularly Glue, Athena, ECS, Lambda, RDS, and SageMaker
- Using NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy to analyze data
- Utilizing PostgreSQL and Redis databases
- Improving CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (as a plus)
Additionally, an ideal candidate would be looking to either 1) remain a rockstar individual contributor or 2) grow into an eventual CTO (here or elsewhere).
Since we don’t view the above as a checklist, rather than looking backward, see if you are a fit by checking out your ideal one-year review:
YOUR ONE YEAR REVIEW
Over the past year, you’ve become our trusted partner. Your commitment to our mission, your comfort with ambiguity, and your bias towards action is apparent daily.
You built out our library of API endpoints, which are instrumental for our 1) customer-facing applications and 2) internal tools. You also improved the firm’s processing speed, security, and flexibility.
In other words, you allowed us to scale.
Because of your work, we process hundreds of thousands of movements per month and deliver skeletal data, processed data, and reports automatically.
Most importantly, we:
- Increased our market leading MLB footprint.
- Are well on our way to becoming the biomechanics leader in the NBA.
- Expanded our B2B tech partnerships…and started new ones.
When you started, we had a problem. Our backend lacked the modularity and scalability we needed to make Biomechanics as a Service (BaaS) a reality. You changed that.
How did you do it? Here are a few of the key things we think helped get the job done:
- Your attention to detail. Pro teams are power users- building a system that solves all their needs is no easy task.
- Your comfort with ambiguity. You know how to solve open-ended problems.
- Your desire to learn and teach. You are equally as happy learning about biomechanics as you are teaching us about software.
- Your knowledge of Python and AWS. That didn’t hurt either.
Congratulations on an outstanding first year with Reboot!
